Instant Miso Soup Is the Perfect Travel Food
Small bags of instant miso soup are as tasty as they are convenient. I eat miso soup for breakfast (with a poached egg, cooked in the microwave ), but its usefulness goes far beyond the first meal of the day, especially if you are flying, traveling on the road, traveling around town, or traveling in any way …
Instant miso soup is, in my opinion, one of the tastiest instant soups and the easiest to pack. There are no noodles to crush accidentally and the tiny sachets take up very little space. All you need is hot water and you have a delicious, savory and soothing snack (or a light meal if you are using two bags).
Just take an insulated cup or mug and place the bags inside. Throw it in your bag, backpack or purse and go on whatever adventure you have planned for the day. When you get hungry, simply pour the contents of the bag (s) into an insulated mug or cup and add hot water. You now have delicious food.
Are you going hunting in the cold? Before heading out, boil some water, make the soup in a thermos, then take a sip as you wait at the edge of the forest, letting the soup warm and support you. Stuck at the airport with a grim dinner? Find a hot water dispenser and make yourself a delicious treat. Traveling through a real food desert where the only option is hot dogs at the gas station? Get a hot dog, but also make some soup to drink while you drive. (Again, an isothermal cup or thermos is the key to success – make your soup now and enjoy hours later if need be!)
If you are worried about getting tired of miso soup, I highly recommend you pick it up, but I also recommend you buy a wide variety of soups , which often contain many delicious variations on this theme, such as fried tofu, green onions, spinach and seaweed. (You can find such sets very easily on the Internet, but check your local Asian market. This is where the real treasures lie.)
