21 of Twitter’s Best Catholic Movies
Twitter user Jan St. Recently asked for a list of their favorite Catholic movies, leaving the interpretation open, and people were happy to suggest their best options:
These are not exclusively pro-Catholic films (although most of them are). Some people ask uncomfortable questions; they are complicated and awkward. Several users have mentioned Dogma , which I did not include on this list because, oddly enough, it is currently not streaming anywhere.
Also interestingly, while many users referred to The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, no one suggested Martin Scorsese ‘s The Last Temptation of Christ , suggesting that the culture war that began in 1988 has not subsided. Some users interpreted the question as a request for films on a broadly Christian theme, which led to some … interesting suggestions, including at least one Old Testament epic and several films that are more overtly Protestant.
