Store Organic Peanut Butter Upside Down to Avoid Greasy Mess
Organic peanut butter is delicious and can even be part of a healthy diet as long as you don’t eat too much. But when you store it for some time (or, in some cases, when you buy it for the first time), the oils separate from the rest of the oil and rise to the top, which requires vigorous stirring before you can spread the goodness. A quick coup can fix this.
Reddit user Kefkalaughing LifeProTips suggests a way to make accessing your PB a little easier: keep the jar upside down. Some oils will still separate, but they will now rise to the bottom of the can. When you flip the jar over to use it, the peanut substance will fall back into the butter and slowly fill with it. This will drastically shorten the mixing time of the peanut butter and greatly increase the time to enjoy the peanut butter.
Keep in mind that this trick works best if you use organic peanut butter regularly. Constant turning is what keeps the peanuts from drying out, so do not store them this way for weeks. If you really need to do this – for example, if you go on vacation, change your diet for a short time, etc. – you can reduce the oil separation rate by keeping the peanut butter upside down in the refrigerator. This can make it difficult to distribute at first, but it’s worth it if you know you’re not going to use it for a while.
