Listen to TV in a Crowded Bar With This App
It’s time for the March Madness, which means that many of us are crowding into bars to watch games, crowded bars where even if you can see the game, your chances of hearing it are very slim.
Tunity is an application designed specifically to help you listen to TV in crowded places where listening conditions are less than ideal.
To use the app, you must first download it (obviously) and then create an account using your Facebook account or email address. When you’re ready to listen, you point your phone and TV so the app can see what you’re watching, then press the scan button. The app detects what you are watching and then starts playing audio for the channel.
If the sound is slightly muted, you can set it in the app for a few seconds to keep everything in sync.
The TV programs you can use it for are a bit limited as well. You can only use it for live streaming (not for things like Netflix or DVD), and only for supported channels. There are currently 100 supported stations, so your chances of success are high, but you may still not be able to use it for what you want to hear.
And of course, the whole point of watching the game in a bar rather than at home is for you to be able to share the experience with your friends, which you certainly don’t do with a pair of earbuds in your ears. Although in the gym, something like this would be a clutch.
