This Is the 2-Minute Podcast on Brushing Our Teeth We’ve Been Waiting For.
Two minutes is an odd time to stand by the sink with a brush in your mouth. And if you don’t use an electric brush with an automatic timer, what should you do, look at the stopwatch? I have reported a lack of good dental cleaning apps before ; there is one good one for children and that’s it. But Gimlet came to the rescue with a two-minute show called Chompers , which runs twice a day.
You can find Chompers on any podcast service or use the Alexa skill. I’m a freak who has an Echo Dot in his bathroom, so I can say “Alexa, start Chompers” when I’m ready to brush my teeth and get two minutes of facts, jokes or puzzles. (This week’s theme is animals.) One thing that makes the Alexa skill different from a regular podcast is that it can track how often you brush your teeth and encourages you to keep streaming.
Chompers even reminds you when it’s time to switch from one quadrant of your mouth to another. The only problem I found is that it assumes that only children will use it. You can’t just turn on Chompers like any other Alexa skill; I had to ask an adult (i.e. me) to log into the Alexa phone app to turn it on and agree that I understood that it would collect information about my children (specifically when and when they brushed their teeth). The only problem is that I used it for myself . Can’t an adult enjoy some animal facts every morning and night?
