Don’t Buy an Apple Laptop Until the New MacBook Air Comes Out
The MacBook Air has n’t received much love from Apple in the past few years, but that may finally change this spring. A new report from popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors ) claims we may be getting a cheaper MacBook Air in the next few months, and until that happens, you should probably refrain from buying any new Apple laptop.
Kuo did not go into details other than the price, which would have dropped below the current $ 999. It’s also unclear if this means Apple will bring back the smaller 11-inch Macbook Air ( discontinued back in 2016) or simply cut costs on the current 13-inch laptop.
In any case, it could also be an opportunity to upgrade a piece of equipment. Last June , Apple revamped the MacBook Air a bit, increasing the processor speed, but ignoring the aging screen – it still can’t display Full HD images. We can get a USB-C port as well, but personally I still prefer the old MagSafe charging method.
The simple truth is, despite years of neglect, the MacBook Air is still a great laptop. This is a pinnacle moment in Apple’s design history, just before the company decided that the best way to move forward was to remove features that people really liked (MagSafe, iPhone headphone jack , decent laptop keyboard , etc.).
If you are more interested in flashy features like the useless MacBook Touch Bar or the really very user-friendly MacBook Pro Touch ID , then you probably shouldn’t wait for this new MacBook Air. But if you want an incredibly durable laptop that won’t let you down, the MacBook Air is the way to go. Hopefully in a few months we will see the Air make the leap in 2018 with better hardware, or at least a lower price point.
