How to Use Venmo to Split Your Food Delivery Bill on Grubhub

Venmo makes it easy to split an account with friends, and Grubhub makes it easy to order dinner from your phone. Combining these two services into a single interface seems like an easy task, but until now it hasn’t been an option.

GrubHub, the food delivery giant that also owns Seamless and Eat24, released an update this week that lets you pay for your order using Venmo. And thanks to that, you can now collect money from friends for a delivery order before sending it, so that no one can conveniently forget their share of the pizza bill after they have eaten their pieces.

The next time you open Seamless, GrubHub, or Eat24, you should see a pop-up informing you of the new Venmo payment method, which you will find on the checkout screen the next time you create an order.

You will need to link your Venmo account to Seamless or Eat24 the first time you try to use it to pay for shipping, but it only takes a few seconds. The next time you choose Venmo as your payment method, you’ll be taken to the app, where you can request money from your friends to cover shipping costs, before returning to Seamless, Grubhub, or Eat24 to complete your order. It’s much easier than trying to convince people to give (or send) cash to you when they’re full – or have already left for the night.
