How to Instantly Open Any Safari Link in a New Tab on IOS

iOS: When you click a link in the Apple Safari app, you can achieve one of two things: a new page temporarily hijacks your iPhone while it loads, or you waste precious seconds long clicking on a link to load it in a background tab instead. As it turns out, there is a third option that has been hiding in iOS for almost a year , and it’s even better.

To open this Safari link in a new tab, simply tap on it with two fingers at once (as noted in a recent post on r / Apple ). Safari will take you to this new tab by default, but if you’d rather load it in the background, that’s also an option. Just go to Preferences, then Safari, then Open Links and choose to open new links in the background.

Now the next time you read an article on your phone and come across an interesting link, just tap it with two fingers and keep reading. When you’re ready, this new page will be waiting for you in another tab on your device.
