Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Cool Carthusian Cooler
Happy Friday my friends and welcome back to Happy Hour with 3 Ingredients , a weekly drinks column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. Today we make an herbal yet balanced drink that I found in the iconic Playboy’s Host & Bar Book .
If there’s one thing I love about this world, it’s a very specific vintage cocktail book, and this one is especially cool. Not only does it date back to an implacable decadent (albeit sexist) time, but it is completely filled with three-way alcoholic drinks, including this small amount of hard drinks. Let’s not be offended: this is a drink . It comes with an ounce each of yellow chartreuse and bourbon and is hot and not bothering. You can drink soda water with it, but it’s best to wear something snug on the night when you know you are taking a taxi home. To make it you will need:
- 1 ounce bourbon
- 1 ounce yellow chartreuse
- Soda
Pour the bourbon and chartreuse into a highball glass filled with ice and stir with a straw or a very clean stick. Top with soda water, stir again gently for a great taste.
