Create Your Own Sound Effects With This Soundboard App for Mac
There are many existing sound card apps ( and sites ) out there, but the new Farrago app might be the best. Like most Rogue Amoeba apps, it’s a pretty powerful tool with a smart and friendly interface, and you can try it for free before shelling out $ 49 per license (currently selling for $ 39).
Using the app, I was able to whip up the arrested development deck by dragging and dropping audio files from the Finder (and from loading the panel into Chrome) onto the app. Each immediately had a corresponding keyboard key that I could change by moving the sound sample across the application window. I even created a loop using the simplest signal editor in the right pane.
As with other Rogue Amoeba apps, your Farrago license is for multi-machine installation, so you can pin it to your laptop, desktop or work computer. The app automatically saves the soundsets you create, as well as copies of the sounds themselves, so you don’t need to move files around.
If you just want a couple of fun fart sounds for your podcast, take advantage of the free website . But if you want more control, try Farrago.
