How to Start Group Video Chats and Tag Your Snapchat Friends
On this week Snapchat launches two new features : group video chat and the ability to mark friends in the stories . Here’s what you need to know in order to use both of them after your device receives an app update.
Setting up a video call with multiple friends is as easy as creating a group chat in the app. All you have to do is open Snapchat and swipe left to open the Chat tab. Then, either start a new group chat using the icon in the upper right corner, or open an ongoing conversation. Click on the camera icon and everyone in the chat (up to 16 people) will be asked to join your video meeting.
Snapchat group videos also work with the company’s popular lenses, so you can chat with friends while flaunting bunny ears or vomiting rainbows. If you’re uncomfortable with showing your face in chat, you can also choose to use audio only or just type your messages while the rest of your friends share live video streams.
Snapchat’s second new feature just got easier to navigate. To tag a friend, start by creating a Story as usual. When you’re ready to add text, enter the @ sign followed by your friend’s username. You should see a list of options pop up just below your story. Click on the one you want to select it.
Before you go crazy tagging all your friends, just remember that anyone who can view your stories will be able to find your tagged friends in the app. Swiping up a tagged story will allow anyone to add that person as a friend and view their public stories.
