How to Use Uber’s New Call 911 Feature
We hope your Uber rides are boring and enjoyable, but if you ever run into problems or experience an unsafe ride while driving, car sharing today introduced a new feature that makes it easy to call emergency services from within. applications. With the push of a button – and quick confirmation – you can contact the police to report an accident you were involved in (or any other noticeable emergency).
When you ride an Uber, you will see a small police shield icon in the lower right corner of the map. Click on it to open the Emergency Toolbox, which has Call 911 at the very bottom. Click on it and you get a massive red button that you can press to call emergency services immediately.
If you have to press a button, the app will display your exact location, the make and model of the vehicle you are driving in, and the vehicle’s license plate for you to share with the police over the phone. The idea is that keeping all this information in one place should make it easier to communicate with emergency services.
In six cities, Uber will send your name, your exact location, the model and color of your Uber vehicle, and your license plate to emergency services without you saying a word. This is a great option for those who live in Denver; Charleston; Chattanooga; Naples; Louisville; and Tri-Cities, Tennessee. This feature is also coming to Nashville soon, and we hope to see it in more major metropolitan areas after that.
