The Most Customizable Weather App Now Available for Android
Carrot Weather, a renowned weather forecast app for iOS and Mac, is currently in beta for Android . The app reports the weather sarcastically, giving a mediocre impression of the offending AI from Portal . Luckily, you can switch to “pro” mode and enjoy the complex, customizable weather app without distraction.
This is a weather app for those of us who are never happy with our weather apps, who know exactly what we want and what we don’t want. For example, I need a chance of rain and a “perceived” temperature, and I don’t give a damn about air pressure. In the summer, I want to know the UV index so I know if to wear my embarrassing but protective wide-brimmed hat. Carrot Weather allows me to get exactly this information.
You can customize each data point in the Carrot Weather Today summary, hourly timeline, and ten-day forecasts. Each slot can display one of several data points: actual temperature, perceived temperature, probability and amount of precipitation, wind speed, air pressure, humidity, UV index, cloud cover, visibility, dew point, sunrise / sunset, moon phase, and nearest weather station. You can display Celsius and Fahrenheit temperatures at the same time as if your phone was an HSBC traffic sign. You can even choose between two data sources: Weather Underground and Dark Sky.
To remove ads and enable a custom home screen widget (not yet released) you will need to pay $ 4 per year. Charging a monthly fee for a weather app is a bit cheeky, so messy random people can stick with a one-time paid app like 1Weather . But if you want a hyper-specific forecast and the ability to change it seasonally, pay. Then select the desired level of sarcasm (there are several of them) and proceed with the setup.
