How to Automatically Delete (Some) Cookies in Your Browser
Browser cookies are useful in some cases; unpleasant in others. While they can save you the hassle of going through a complicated authentication process whenever you try to access your favorite sites, they can also store data about what you were doing on a specific website – which can then be used for more service. “Relevant” advertising in the future.
To fix this problem, select the Cookie AutoDelete extension for Chrome or Firefox . This is a useful way to find out how many cookies are stored on any website in the background of your browser. More importantly, you can whitelist cookies for sites of interest, such as your favorite social network, and automatically delete all cookies for other sites whenever you close a site tab (or close your browser).
As Android Central describes:
“You can export and import whitelists and greylists, see how many cookies a site is using using the icon, clear all cookies from the same domain (like facebook.com), and manually clear through the extension popup. This is the best extension ever, and more fun to use than Pokémon Go . Maybe it’s just me.
While we would probably rather go outside and play with Charmander than sit inside carefully clearing our browser cookies, AutoDelete Cookie is a great way to gain a little more control over the information that websites can use against you. If the extension had a way to more specifically show you what is in the various cookies that each site uses, that would be even better, but without it it is still a pretty compelling privacy tool.
