Fitbit Now Has a Period Tracker
Fitbit has just launched what they say is one of the most requested features: period tracking. The app and smartwatch can now show you where you are to better correlate cycle data with your diet and sleep .
Every day, as the screenshots show , you can keep track of how much bleeding you have and Fitbit will add that to your calendar. If you like keeping track of what’s going on with your cervical mucus (it’s a white / clear substance that you produce after a week or two, during the month you’re most likely to get pregnant), you have a few buttons to enter data from this. too. You can also log in when you’ve had protected or unprotected sex, and there is a button to mark when you took emergency contraception that says “morning after pill.”
But that’s all, so you can hardly replace the full-featured fertility app if you are already using it. Fitbit does not provide any tools for tracking basal body temperature, birth control pills, pregnancy tests, or ovulation test results.
So for now, it’s just a period tracker. Fitbit says it will be turned on by default under a tile that says “women’s health tracking” for users 13 and older who have selected “female” on their profile. (If it’s not you, you can turn it on in the settings, or turn it off if you don’t want to see it.) For more information on how to use the new features, read here .
