Change Your Twitter Password Now
Twitter, a social network created to test how much nonsense netizens will tolerate, just announced that it had accidentally saved a bunch of passwords in plain text . While this was just an internal error and is probably okay, you should probably change your Twitter password now. Happy Password Day!
Go to your Twitter account settings page , click password , enter your current password, and enter a new one. Remember to use a strong password . Do not use a password that you have used elsewhere. (And if you’ve used your Twitter password elsewhere, you’ll want to change it in those services as well.)
This shouldn’t force you to log in again on every device (at least not for us), and you won’t need to go through two-factor authentication, even if you have such a setup. If you don’t have two-factor setup , set it up ! This makes you less vulnerable if Twitter accidentally discovers your password.
(And while you’re at it, do a quick check of all the different apps you’ve shared with your Twitter account. Since you probably don’t end up on the Twitter account settings page very often, kill two birds with one stone.)
