I Just Did 100 Burpees and Somehow Didn’t Die
Today we wrap up the June fitness challenge home. Have you done burpee every single day? (Just a few days? Hey, better than nothing.) I’m using some of my newfound powers for a grand finale – you should too.
As you remember, last week I realized that I was going to do about 1000 burpees in a month. Soon after, I was preparing to go on vacation and I thought: you know, instead of 30 lessons a day, I could do a couple of days of 100 and be done with it.
And so I did. Last week I did 100 burpees in one workout. Today I do it again, in just a month – 1042. And I still have a day – maybe tomorrow I will do one burpee ceremony.
Let me be clear: you don’t have to do 100 burpees. It was a grueling but doable workout for me. The day after that first set of 100 burpees, I got a little sick, but not so sick that I felt the need to take ibuprofen or avoid the stairs. If you still feel good about your burpees, maybe there is a special workout that you could do today or tomorrow that would give you the same sense of accomplishment: 10, 20, 50 burpees? Timed task to see how much you can do in five, 10, or 15 minutes?
Whatever you choose, take care of yourself and have fun. Let’s talk about how the month went – have you become stronger? Faster? Reach the monthly streak? If you’ve done burpees this month, I’m proud of you.
