If You’re Having a Tough Day, Try the 1-2-3 Strategy.

We’ve all been there – your day is going badly and it seems like it will never end. Worst of all, it seems like there is nothing you can do to fix it. But it is not so. This strategy won’t solve all of your problems, but it is a creative way to turn a tough day into a fulfilling one.

On Twitter, Cassie St-Onge , Emmy nominated comedy writer and author of Jane Jones: The Worst. A vampire. Is always. shared some helpful advice for those of us trying to survive during the day.

When something is wrong, St. Onge advises you to try these three simple steps:

  1. Do what you have to do : You may feel a little better if you finally cross something off your to-do list , especially if it has nothing to do with your regular work day. What will make you feel better when it’s done?
  2. Do what you want to do : heal yourself. Want to read, watch a movie, eat ice cream, or go for a walk in nature? Do it. Allow yourself to be happy even for a little while .
  3. Do Something For Someone Else : Helping others makes you feel good – proven. It gives you a sense of purpose and gives you the opportunity to reflect on your own problems that you might need help with. Besides, it’s nice. Go be polite.

As trashy as your day is, this strategy ensures that you are somewhat productive, that you take care of yourself at least a little, and that you are making an effort to make the world a better place for someone. You will feel better, or at least spend the rest of your day safe and sound, because you changed your daily routine .
