How to Use Google Lens in the Pixel or Nexus Camera App
Starting today, Google Pixel and Pixel 2 Android smartphones, as well as select select Nexus and Android One devices, will be able to access Google Lens directly from the Google Camera app. Here’s a quick overview of how to do it.
First open Google Play and make sure you update your Google Camera to the latest version – 5.2.025. Then, the next time you open the Camera app, you’ll find Google Lens listed in the navigation bar along with other camera features like slow motion, portrait, and panorama. Just tap the hamburger icon or swipe from left to right to find it.
After you click this function, you just need to point the camera at the object and click on the screen to get more information about it. For example, you can point your camera at a flower and tap the screen to let your device know what it is. Pointing the camera over a business card will give you the option to add the cardholder as a contact on your phone. Google’s move is part of a promise the company made at this year’s I / O conference to bring Lens directly into camera apps. While its devices are among the first to receive the feature, Google plans to add Lens to standard camera apps on other LG, Motorola and Sony phones.
