Let’s Make a Dessert Casserole
Hello and welcome back to Will It Casserole? , a column in which I take your delicious concepts and reimagine them as delicious casserole creations. The casserole was one of my favorites last week, but it’s time to move on and I think we should move on to something sweet.
Come to think of it, the dessert casserole already exists; layered dishes like trivia and tiramisu are mostly dessert casseroles, but I’d like to get a little creative with this genre. Some ideas I had:
- Birthday casserole: Aside from the cake itself, there are a lot of birthday cake- flavored things – Oreos, ice cream, cake truffles, and more – and I think they would be nicely stacked together and covered in a whole bunch of sprinkles.
- Banana Slice Casserole: This classic ice cream is designed to be baked as it allows you to experience all the flavors of a banana slice in one bite.
- Cheese Platter Casserole: The cheese platter is technically prepared during dessert, so you could bet it would be a dessert casserole. At least a couple of brie wheels will be involved, as well as apples, grapes and some kind of almond crumb.
Here’s what came to my mind, but I’m sure we can come up with even sweeter baked dishes. As always, feel free to drop any deliciously original casserole ideas in the comments below, and be sure to tag your favorites.
