How to Get Notified If You Leave Your AirPods Pro Behind
AirPods Pro are all too easy to forget. Yes, you can track down your lost AirPods Pro from the Find My app, but now you can help fix the problem before it happens: your iPhone can notify you when you leave your AirPods Pro.
IOS 15 brings a new split alert feature for iPhone, iPad, Mac and many other Apple products, and a new firmware update brings the same feature to AirPods Pro (regular AirPods are unfortunately not supported).
Please update your AirPods Pro firmware to AA400 or higher first.
This feature is only supported on AirPods Pro with firmware AA400 or higher. AirPods Pro update automatically in the background, but there is a way to speed up this process.
Connect them to a power source and bring them to the iPhone they are paired with. Make sure your iPhone has a stable internet connection, then wait. After a while, AirPods Pro will automatically update the firmware.
You can check the firmware of your AirPods Pro in the Settings app. Go to General > About > AirPods (open the AirPods Pro case to see them). Find ” Firmware Version ” here.
How to enable split alerts for AirPods Pro
When your AirPods Pro and iPhone are up to date, open the Find Me app. In the Devices tab, select your AirPods Pro. Then tap the ” Notify me when left behind ” option. Turn on the ” Notify me when left behind ” switch at the top and you’re in business.
Keep split alerts under control
We already talked about how split alerts, while great, are also one of the annoying features in iOS 15 . That’s because it constantly notifies you that you’ve left your AirPods when you leave your office or home.
Fortunately, you can add exclusion scopes to prevent Find My from notifying split alerts in that shared area (by default, your home is set as an exclusion scope). Click the Add Location button on the Notify When Left Behind screen and define an area (you can choose a small, medium and large circle). Click the Finish button to save the setting.
