Alexa Can Now Come Back to You About This
Given that query for fact is the most commonly used feature of smart speakers like the Amazon Echo, Alexa users are probably familiar with the phrase “Sorry, I don’t know that.”
Alexa’s knowledge base is constantly growing, and at some point in the future, she just might have an answer to a question she didn’t have before. To that end, Amazon is introducing a new feature called Answer Updates that allows Alexa to notify you when she finds out the answer to a question she didn’t know at the time you asked it.
It is not yet clear how the updates will be provided, but it can be assumed that it will be through the glowing green “notification” prompt.
There is currently no toggle for this in the Alexa app either, but you can simply say “Alexa, enable response updates” and you’ll be presented with a confirmation and a short description of the feature. You can turn them off (if notifications in any form might annoy you) using Alexa, turn off response updates.
I don’t know how convenient it will be to deal with my previously unanswered questions when they finally appear. Given the speed at which Amazon is expanding Alexa’s horizons , hopefully I’ll hear a flood of satisfactory answers soon, and with some luck, some of them might even be relevant.
