How to (Really) Uninstall Your IPhone’s Built-in Apps
The apps that Apple pre-installs on iPhones are designed to be useful. But if you don’t use them, they’ll just take up valuable storage space and home screen space for no reason.
Until now, the only solution for many of Apple’s main iOS apps has been to put them in a folder and forget about them – or “delete” them, but not quite as they were still taking up space on your device. With iOS 12, however, Apple is finally letting you permanently remove them from your iPhone and reclaim precious storage space.
What can be removed
Short version: Everything. Apple has made a lot of apps just optional. While they’ll all automatically install on your phone with iOS 12, Allthings.how lists everything you can now get rid of:
- Events
- Apple Books
- Calculator
- The calendar
- Compass
- Contacts
- Facetime
- Files
- Find my friends
- Home
- ITunes store
- Cards
- Measure
- Music
- Notes (edit)
- Photo booth
- Podcasts
- Reminders
- Stock
- Advice
- Video or TV
- Voice Notes
- Watch
- Weather
How to recover a deleted app
If you deleted something by accident, or just want to get a previously deleted app back, open the Apple App Store. It may have disappeared from your iPhone, but you can easily reinstall it from there.
