Windows 11 Makes the Microsoft Store Truly Usable

In the past, the Microsoft Store has struggled to get approval from its users. It had a reputation for being dysfunctional – or missing mission-critical applications altogether. But with the Windows 11 update, significant improvements and expanded functionality are promised. Here are the main features to look out for if you’re downloading Windows 11 and using the Microsoft Store.

Easier Microsoft Store Search

Microsoft continues to simplify the store search experience for users, including creating new results pages that prioritize the most relevant and desired content.

In addition, new filters allow users to customize their search based on age ratings or app categories. You can now use the All Types dropdown menu to filter app sales, paid or free apps. You can also toggle the ” Departments” and ” All Ages” of these apps for a more thorough search in the store.

Entertainment widget

Microsoft tried to integrate widgets into its OS several years ago, but decided to abandon them. However, a new button on the taskbar opens up a widget panel that includes weather, traffic, calendar, and other basic suggestions.

When you open the widgets panel, you’ll notice that the Microsoft Store sidebar also has sections such as Home, Applications, Games, and Entertainment. With the new Entertainment widget, users can download some of their favorite streaming services or access widgets for movies and games.

Pop-up store

The new OS allows users to access a mini version of the Microsoft Store by clicking the Get From Microsoft icon on web pages. For example, on sites with app icons, you can download apps online using this pop-up mini-version of the Microsoft Store to mediate the installation.

This is a highly anticipated update that brings faster access to the store without having to go through the Microsoft Store itself.

Better Xbox Integration

Windows 11 provides improved integration with the Xbox app, allowing gamers to play over 100 games with Xbox Game Pass. In addition, the Epic Games Store is one of the native apps now available for download from the Microsoft Store.

This is a good time considering that there will be more PC games released for Windows 11 users this fall. For example, Age of Empires IV, Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite should be released in the next couple of months.

Unfortunately, many PCs don’t meet the stringent hardware requirements of Windows 11 ; You can download the PC Health Check app to check if your app meets the minimum system requirements to install Windows 11 to access the Microsoft Store. If not, then we have a guide to making Windows 10 feel a little more like Windows 11.
