How to Determine If Your IPhone 8 Is Eligible for a Free Logic Board Replacement
If you’re having problems with your iPhone 8, it may need a new motherboard. Apple reported late last week that faulty motherboards could cause random reboots, screen freezes, and improper start-ups that prevent iPhone 8 from turning on properly. If that sounds like what you’re dealing with, you can get your phone repaired for free.
The affected units were purchased between September 2017 and March 2018 in the United States, Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau and New Zealand.
The review only applies to the iPhone 8, so if you purchased a different model, this does not apply to you, even if you have the same problems and bought the phone at the same time.
To find out if your phone meets the requirements, you just need to enter its serial number here . Your serial number is printed on the back of the device in tiny print. You can also find it by going to the Settings menu and selecting General and then About.
If your phone is one of the picks, you can get it repaired by making an appointment at your local Apple retail store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also mail your device to an Apple Service Center.
