How to Pre-Order the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL [updated]
As anticipated, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were available for pre-order following the Made by Google event on October 9th. You can pre-order phones now onthe Google web store page . The Pixel 3 will set you back at least $ 799 or $ 33.29 a month for 24 months, while the Pixel 3 XL starts at $ 899 and can be rented out for $ 34.47 for 24 months. Pre-order shipping will begin in just a few days, October 17, and the official launch date will be October 18.
As far as which carriers support the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, buying directly through the Google store link above could give you an unlocked phone to hand over to a service provider you already own. However, if you’re looking for a new provider, Google’s owncellular operatorProject Fi also offers pre-orders for both phones. The prices are the same as above, but you can exchange your current phone for credit, which can bring the purchase price down by $ 435. If you order the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL before their total shipping date of October 17, Google will also provide a whopping $ 799 service credit for your Project Fi account.
Verizon customers will also be pleased to know that Google continues to partner with the mobile operator to pre-order Pixel phones with Verizon SIM cards through the Google Store.
All Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL pre-orders also include six months of free YouTube Music Premium.
We expect the pre-order to move quickly, so if you want one it’s best to upgrade to it. Historically, it was difficult to get hold of Pixel phones for weeks (and even months) after release. But with Google targeting wider release in multiple markets, we hope this is an indication that the company is ready to hand these phones to as many hands as possible.
If other pre-order options open up, we’ll be sure to include them here.
Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL specifications
The official announcement finally cleared up the specs of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, which had been rumored and speculated in the weeks and months leading up to their disclosure.
The Pixel 3 has a 5.5-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, and the 3 XL will have a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge OLED screen – and yes, the previously rumored notch on the 3 XL is real.
They even put extra emphasis on the Pixel 3 and 3 XL cameras. Pixel phones have always been praised for camera quality, and these latest models take things even further. Both phones will have dual 8MP front cameras and 12.2MP rear cameras. Google is also deepening its AI integration with cameras to further empower users to take great photos.
In terms of hardware specs, the previously assumed support for the Snapdragon 845 was apparently correct as the chipset is present on both phones along with 4GB of RAM and runs the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box. You can get the Pixel 3 and 3 XL with 64GB of storage, although 128GB models are also available for an additional $ 100 on top of the asking price. Google also lists the battery size for the Pixel 3 as 2915 mAh and 3450 mAh for the Pixel 3 XL – both batteries can be charged wirelessly.
