Make and Freeze Baked Goods With Cranberry Toaster for Thanksgiving Morning

Thanksgiving mornings only have time to cook one meal, and that meal is not breakfast. Cereal or store-bought Danish dishes are always an option, but if you want to serve something warm and seasonally appropriate, you can make these three-ingredient toasters and store them in the freezer until feeding time.

All you need to make them is pie dough (available at the store), cranberry sauce (whole, not aspic), and an egg. Roll out the dough about the size of one pie on a floured surface, then cut it into six equal-sized rectangles. (If you’re good at rolling out pie dough, you might end up with eight.)

Place two teaspoons of the sauce in the center of the three (or four) rectangles, spread it a little (leaving half an inch from the edge) and place the remaining dough on top of the sauce-seasoned rectangles.

Squeeze the edges with a fork to seal, poke three rows of holes with the prongs of the same fork at the tops, and brush off excess flour from the tops of the baking with a pastry brush. Whisk a whole egg and rinse the baked goods lightly . Repeat until you get as many baked goods as you want.

Bake baked goods in 375 degrees oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool to room temperature, then place the entire baking sheet in the freezer until completely frozen, ideally overnight. Transfer them to a freezer bag. When you’re ready to feed them, place them in the toaster for a few minutes, until the edges and tops begin to darken slightly. Serve with plenty of coffee , then return your focus to the turkey.
