It’s Time to Check the Mid-Year Monetary Target
We’re about half a year now, so let’s take the time to check our financial targets for 2018 .
My goals for the year include increasing my emergency savings and being more mindful of my spending so it’s less wasteful. In truth, I’m actually farther from my first goal than I was at the start of the year, and my second is ambiguous. I moved into a studio apartment (another purpose) that had a lot of one-time expenses that I used my emergency fund to cover. I knew about this and it was the sacrifice I was willing to make for better peace of mind.
The second option is more complicated. I think I’m definitely more mindful of my spending, but that doesn’t mean it’s not necessarily wasteful. This is what I commit to pay more attention to, and I have done better in the past few weeks.
As always, I could have done more. Here are a few more things I plan to do for the rest of the year:
- Sticking to my Do Not Buy List
- Do another life audit to make sure I’m where I want to be. It’s been almost a year since I last did it, and a lot has changed.
- Brainstorming about additional ways to earn money.
How far have you come? What habits do you find it beneficial to adhere to? Have you thought about changing your goal? Let me know in the comments.
