Get Cheap Daytime Access to Luxury Pools and Spas With This App

I’m a big fan of trendy pools and beaches, but the writer’s salary is usually not what a hotel bill would pay to stay too often at a hotel adjacent to those trendy pools and beaches. Daypass is an app that allows poor people like me to access health and fitness facilities in hotels around the world and pay a daily rate instead of an entire night’s stay. This means you can lounge by the pool at a hotel for $ 600 a night for $ 80 all day, or access this exclusive beachfront area in a five-star resort from Motel 6 down the street.

The iPhone and Android app offers access to places like Miami, Hong Kong, Paris and Dubai, and includes passes not only to pools and beaches, but also to gyms and health clubs, as well as saunas and steam rooms. The idea here is that you get limited access to some of the best things a particular property has to offer, but at a big discount.

This service certainly works while on vacation, but it can also come in handy for lodging when you just want to spend the day at the property in your hometown.

For example, in Miami, you can access the pool at the five-star St. Regis for $ 90 a day or in a four-person booth for $ 390. In contrast, the cheapest price for a hotel room per day is $ 689 plus a $ 35 resort tax. While $ 90 is definitely not a cheap day at the pool, that’s a pretty significant price difference. Pool access can be booked directly in the app, so you’ll be ready to go as soon as you arrive at the hotel.

The huge disadvantage is that the app is not available everywhere. When I searched for a pool in my hometown of San Francisco, the app suggested several places I could call, but couldn’t book directly in the app. It’s the same in New York.

However, depending on where you travel, it can be an easy way to get a “luxury” experience without having to pay the full luxury price.
