Get a Free Game Every Two Weeks From the Epic Games Store
Video games will never be enough for you.
Earlier this month, Epic Games, which you probably know better as the creator of Fortnite , launched its own digital gaming showcase. Like Steam, the Epic Game Store offers players the option to buy PC games online. It’s a much smaller store at the moment, but Epic has a few tricks up its sleeve to keep people interested … Free games, for example.
Starting December 14, Epic will be giving away a spinning free video game on its store during its first year of existence. The game will change every two weeks, so you should have plenty of time to stop by and pick it up, but you can customize your calendar to remind yourself to stop by.
The first game of the store is the recently completed open-world survival game Subnautica . While under the ocean on an alien planet, you find yourself alone in an underwater base. To survive, you must research, find materials to craft equipment and not be eaten by alien sharks and spider jellyfish. Subnautica will be available for free on the Epic Game Store until December 27th.
On December 28, Epic will jump into its second free game, the devilishly challenging platformer Super Meat Boy . The Epic store is showing icons for both games right now, so I expect Epic to announce the next free game after the switch. Super Meat Boy will be available for free on the Epic Games Store until January 10th.
Once you download the games through the store, you will need to download the Epic Games Launcher to play them, which you do by clicking the blue “Get Epic Games” button in the upper right corner of the store page.
