How Did You Get on in a Month Without Spending?
January is drawing to a close and our month ends with no expenses . How are you doing?
Personally, I achieved my main goal: I didn’t buy new clothes and books. The latter was harder to resist than the former — there are a lot of good books and I’m still catching up with the year-end “best” lists. Instead of buying them, I added them to a list that was satisfying in its own way.
But tracking my spending confirmed what I already knew: I was spending too much on food, and I should stay away from Amazon after I had a drink or two. I have made some positive changes in that I began to invite friends and often seek more affordable classes (film screenings, MoviePass, tickets to museums on a “pay as you wish”) than usual.
Now is the time to think about the future. Do you want to continue cutting costs or somehow change your month, or do you realize that this is a useless experiment? What other goals do you want to achieve? I’m going to try changing the categories I can’t spend this month in and see how things go.
I haven’t been 100% successful, but overall I am better informed about where my money went this month. Hope you have experienced something similar.
