Renew Your Participation in the TSA Pre-Screening Online Six Months Before Its Expiration Date
If your TSA pre-check is about to expire, renewing it may be a little easier than you think. TSA now allows flyers to renew their program registrations online and six months before their current registration expires. If all goes to plan, the renewal process will take about five minutes.
In case you’re unfamiliar for some reason, TSA Precheck is a program that allows low-risk travelers to pass the fast-track airport security line.
When you fly, you don’t need to take off your shoes, belt or jacket, and you can leave your liquids and laptop in your bag. In most cases, you also need to go through a metal detector rather than a massive body scanner.

The service is currently available at 200 US airports across the country and is used by 56 airlines.
The program costs $ 85 for five years, which is approximately $ 17 per year. That $ 85 will pay off if you arrive late for the first time and have to skip through the queue to catch your flight. I was personally grateful for mine on December 26 when I arrived at the airport in Raleigh, NC at 5am for a 6:30 am flight and found the traditional security line winding around the airport lobby and out onto the street. There were about 30 people in the queue for the preliminary examination of the TSA.
