Spice up Your Super Bowl Party With Props Bets
Admittedly, football is not my game. I love basketball and hockey and can play good baseball with enthusiasm, but football has never done that for me. However, I love good parties, especially the ones that encourage people to make crazy foods. So I end up at a Super Bowl party every year, sometimes even as a host. I am the definition of “Here For Advertising” (as well as beer and food, to be honest).
A few years ago, my friends and I started a tradition that got me into the game too: anchor betting.
For sports fans, the idea of Prop Bets is not new. However, not many people realize how much better they can improve watching sports for people who may not know much about the game.
In fact, wagering does not require the bettor to know anything about the teams playing. Instead, you bet on weird things, like how long it will take for Gladys Knight to sing the national anthem, or what colored liquid will be poured onto the winning coach. Football related issues are also usually a little abstract. For example, instead of betting on who will score the first touch of a game, you are betting on whether that person’s shirt number will be from 1 to 20 or from 21 to 99. Anyone can do that.
Yes, if you understand team play and play, many of these questions will be easier, but in general anyone can bet on them and have a decent chance of winning. It also gives people like me some skin in a real game. I may not be very knowledgeable about football, but I love to gamble.
We usually print a bet sheet for everyone and ask them to fill it out when they arrive at the party if they want to play. We made a lot of options for what someone wins. For several years, the prize was a shot of fancy beer from the host friend’s cellar, in other years we all threw in $ 5 each, and the winner took the pot. You know your friends, so choose what suits your audience.
As for where you get your bet sheets, there are dozens of options. A Google search for “2019 Super Bowl Betting” will give you tons of options to print. Here are a few of my favorites this year to get you started:
And if you can’t get your friends to play along, or even if you can, the Tally – Predict Live Events app (not to be confused with the other two in the App Store) is also worth a look. He offers 16 bets on today’s game. If you have all 16 correct answers, you can win $ 250,000 in the app.
