Preview Google Search Results With This Browser Extension
By far the first link in my google search results is never what I’m really looking for. As a result, my typical move is to open up all search results that look like they could potentially fit decently into their own tabs in my browser, and then view them one by one. There may be many depending on what I was looking for.
Google Results Previewer is a Chrome extension that makes this process a bit easier. Rather than having to open every single link to see search results, the Chrome extension lets you preview a webpage by hovering over it. That way, when you finally open that extra tab, or just click on the link, you’ll know where you’re at.
The preview is initially displayed as a small window in the bottom right corner of the search results page, as you can see from my recent important query “waffle sandwiches”.
If you like what you see (I was intrigued by this Monte Cristo waffle sandwich), you can hover over this window to get an enlarged image that can be scrolled like on a traditional web page.
To open the link and go to the page, you will need to click on it in the search results, as usual.
This is a nifty trick that made my searches a little more fruitful, or at least significantly fewer tabs involved.
If you don’t want to use it, like all Chrome extensions, you can also simply disable it using the button on the browser toolbar.
