How to Switch to Dark Mode in the New IOS on Twitter
Twitter announced today that its iOS app has several advanced options for dark mode if you don’t want to go blind staring at the app’s normal white background all day long. You now have two options to choose from: Dim , which mixes black and darker shades of gray, and Mute , which turns the background black.
Plus, you can now use the new Auto Dark Mode feature to automatically switch your iPhone or iPad to dark mode at night and back to “normal mode” during the day.
To start using all of these features, first make sure your Twitter app is updated to the latest version via the App Store. Then, just in case, I would force close the Twitter app if it’s open on your device. You should now receive an “Auto Dark Mode” message that looks like this:
Visit your Twitter app’s settings – via that same sidebar – and hit Screen & Sound to toggle between two different dark modes (and turn Auto Dark Mode on and off). Here’s a quick overview of the differences between Dim and Mute:
That’s all. While the service still lacks the ability to edit tweets, at least you can portray your 280-character frustrations against a nice darker background. And, yes, automatic dark mode already exists on Android – expect Lights Out at some point in the future.
