Children’s Culture Guide for Adults: What Is the Squid Game?
Today’s kids are smarter, kinder, and better versed in celebrity nicknames and South Korean TV shows than any generation before them. We have to admit that and stop making up stupid nonsense about them.
What is Squid Game ?
Everyone is talking about the Squid Game . This Netflix series has only been released for two weeks, but will soon become the most watched series on the site. A violent break with late capitalism, Squid Game is a brutal, wild South Korean drama that is in desperate need of money. Participants compete in red-light-green-light and tug-of-war games for children. The winner gets a ton of money. The losers are creatively killed. Just watch theSquid Games trailer and tell them it’s not great. Then check out the memes ; they are pretty good too.
Educators warn to “challenge the teacher,” but this looks fake.
Parents, news organizations and school administrators from Texas to Chicago, Florida and throughout the country are sounding the alarm for the “Slap the Teacher” call. This shocking trend is reported to have students videotaping them approaching teachers and just slapping them in the face! Or maybe it’s an ass. No one is sure and it won’t start until October. But still, can you imagine a sick imagination that could so offend decency?
Except I’ve looked at about a dozen of these stories and there really isn’t enough evidence to support them. They corroborate the problem with sources such as ” TikTok trending screenshot ” (whatever it is) or sometimes just “TikTok video”. The best I can find is a teacher’s Instagram post asking if this is a joke.
I’m beginning to think that there is actually no “slap the teacher” task at all , despite the fact that it is widely publicized. The only recent teacher slapping incident I can find is the story of a teacher’s assistant hitting a six-year-old . I can’t find teachers slapping videos on TikTok – the #slapateacher hashtag is purely videos where the “teachers” say things like “I wish the student … “ Like this moron who looks threateningly at the camera and says: “Ouch! , dude, I’m going to jail. ” (I’m sure you’re doing a great job of teaching kids, tough guy.)
While teachers and principals grab onto pearls, real schoolchildren are involved in things like organizing creative protests because their school banned bookbags after a child carried a pistol in them.
Everyone calls actor Ben Barnes “Bean Bones.”
British actor and singer Ben Barnes has starred in the films Narnia , Westworld and Shadow and Bone , among others, but I only care about his nickname. For over a decade, his fans called him “Bean Bones” like a British guy when they said “Ben Barnes” and he had no idea. (At least that’s what he says .) Bean Bones is the greatest nickname in nickname history.
Viral Video of the Week: Dude Perfect Optical Illusions
I’m a lover of cinematic optical illusions and magic tricks, and this week’s viral video is full of them. Created for you by the YouTube team, Dude Perfect , Zack King’s Optical Illusion Trick uses all of the book’s non-digital tricks – forced perspective, mirrors, spinning dials, and more – to create a mind-blowing “trick.” took off the video.
Best of all, they will then show you a trick to show you how. Sure, every technique here was invented by silent film directors over a century ago, but that doesn’t make them any less amazing, and I love the sheer audacity of creating complex, practical sequences of effects just to perform them.
TikTok hates Kylie Jenner’s swimwear
Even though summer is over, reality TV megastar Kylie Jenner released the first swimwear in her Kylie line this month, and trendy TikTok has some opinions.
According to TikTokers, the $ 80 swimwear is translucent even when dry, and lacks the thinnest fabric to cover your bits anyway. Apparently, sewing is also cheap, and many say their bathing suit was practically falling apart even before it touched the chlorinated water at the local public pool.
On the other hand, reviewers are almost unanimous in praising the box that the costumes come in. I obviously won’t be able to throw away the overpriced sticky swimsuit as fun as the TikTok fashionistas, so I advise you to click on the #KylieSwim hashtag to see hot takes.
TikToker insists he’s not Brian Landry
TikToker NotBrianLaundrie goes viral with his channel that only exists to tell people that he is not Brian Landry. The unnamed man looks exactly like the guy everyone is looking at the death of Gabrielle Petito, and he was worried about traveling, dogs Bounty Hunter, and that his life is ruined because of his resemblance to the notorious man.
Meanwhile, insisting that he is not Brian Landry, he answers questions from his commentators. For example, when asked where he would go to hide from the world for a few weeks, Nie Brian replied, “This is a great question, I ask it a lot. I’m not Brian. But I would go to your mom’s house.
I’m not sure if I believe his story. Isn’t “I’m seriously not Brian Laundrie” just the kind of thing Brian Laundrie would repeat over and over again? I’ll be back in a second; calling the FBI.
