Visualize Your Wall Painted a Different Color With These Apps

Painting the walls is definitely a task, but not nearly as difficult as deciding what paint color you want to use.

Choosing a paint color traditionally entails visiting a local paint store to paint swatches or swatches and hold them up to a wall to try and figure out how the wall will look when covered with the color in question. Now thanks AI, you can do it from your couch.

ColorSnap

ColorSnap is a Sherwin-Willian creation. The app (obviously) only includes Sherwin-William paints, but it can let you render your walls in any of 1500 colors. If you find a color you like almost anywhere, the app can also help you match that color to paint.

For example, if you like the color of one of your throw pillows, the background color in a picture, or your cat, you can take a photo and find a matching Sherwin Williams paint color.

ColorSmart

ColorSmart is relatively the same as ColorSnap, except that it is produced by Behr paints. With it, you can find the color you want, and also see how a particular color might look. However, unlike the Sherwin-William version, you won’t be able to see what the paint looks like on your wall, only on the wall, which might not be that useful.

Color my place

Paint My Place works with Benjamin Moore, Dulux and Farrow & Ball paints. With it, you can use your finger to “paint” the wall in your house in color. It can be tricky to get exactly what it can be annoying, but it will help you get a general idea of what something might look like.

The app itself is free, but ad-supported, which can complicate the user experience.

Benjamin Moore also has an app called Color Capture that can help you find a paint color that matches a color you found elsewhere.
