If you’re trying to learn something and are having trouble reading an adult-oriented reference book on the topic, consider opting for the kids version instead.
James Holzhauer has currently won over $ 1.1 million planning Jeopardy, making him the second winner in show history, behind only Ken Jennings. In an interview with The New York Times this week, Holzhauer revealed some of his secrets to success, including how he learned so much in so many different categories.
“I have a strategy for reading children’s books to gain knowledge. I found that in an adult handbook, if it’s not a topic that interests me, I just can’t get my head around it, ”he told The Times. “I thought, what place in the library can I find to buy books that would be of interest to uninterested readers? I personally used this strategy a little differently: I learned to program. I love the concept of learning to code, but even the most “simple” adult programs always turn out to be too difficult to understand after a few lessons. The kids-focused programming lessons were a lot easier for me to get through when I started doing something and then set me up for more success with the adult version.
