Use a Nearly Empty Jam Jar to Season Your Cocktail
Jam is a great cocktail ingredient. Plus, it’s very sticky, which means getting the last seemingly trivial pieces out of the jam container requires creative problem solving. Fortunately, ethanol is a good solvent.
Spicing up some booze with the leftover jam is actually pretty straightforward. Just take one and a half or two ounces of your favorite drink, pour it into the jar and shake it, shake it, shake it.
Strain the new fruit infusion through a fine sieve and use it like any flavored alcohol. The cherry-infused gin I made was perfect with just a little tonic, but it would also be perfect with a blackberry or syringe (only sparkling wine on top).
If things are dire and you don’t have the energy to make a complete shake, know that an ounce of tequila infused with orange marmalade will make a great shot, just like canned mango rum. In fact, I cannot think of a single combination that would be bad for hitting; do what you want with it.
