Keep Track of Overgrown Clothing With Safety Pins
At least once or twice a month, I notice that one of my son’s T-shirts has gotten too small or the hem of a pair of pants has gone too far, and I think to myself, “Time to put this in the Donate Stack.” I am sure that every time I will remember which item is already ready to go out the door.
Then I wash all of his clothes and I have absolutely no idea if it’s an orange shirt or green, dark jeans or a light-colored pair. So they go back to the closet until he puts it on the next time and I say, “Oh, it’s definitely time to put this in the donation pile.”

We have a jar of safety pins on the washer. When the boy outgrows something, we place a pin in the upper right corner before putting it in the basket. This way it is marked as a resale box and will not end up in the dresser by mistake.
Once you’ve gotten fresh and clean clothes out of the dryer, you can’t go wrong about which things need to be removed and which ones might stay up for another week.
