Stop Using Your Fisher-Price Rock ‘N Play Now [updated]
If you own the popular Fisher-Price Rock ‘N Play baby sleeping device, the American Academy of Pediatrics urges you to stop using it immediately . The recommendation came less than a week after the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price warned of the product’s potential dangers.

For example, a mother from Hidalgo County, Texas, laid her two-month-old daughter on her back to sleep at night on October 19, 2013, according to a lawsuit filed by the family against Fisher Price. At 4 a.m. when mom checked, everything was fine, but by 7 a.m. the baby stopped breathing. Her head was tilted to the side and her chin was resting on her shoulder, which constricted her airway. She was pronounced dead at the scene due to positional asphyxia or inability to breathe caused by her position.
Parents should be aware that although Rock ‘N Play is marketed as “sleeping”, it is not safe to sleep. To protect against Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), the AAP recommends using a firm sleeping surface with a tight-fitting sheet and no soft padding or bedding, including bumpers, pillows, and blankets.
