How to Keep Jump VR Content Before Google Deletes It
Google is offering another service, this time with the virtual reality content editing service Jump VR . Google just announced that the service will be shutting down on June 28th.
Jump VR is (for now) a cloud-based editing service that allows users with ultra-expensive VR capture settings to merge their videos and photos into VR content, also known as “stitches”, which they can upload to YouTube or export to other VR apps …
While this will be a disappointment for VR content creators who have used the Jump Manager app to create and save VR videos and photo assets, they will need to wipe away their tears and take action if they want to save any work saved in Jump Manager.
According to Google, all Jump VR media stored on the service will be deleted when it goes offline. Projects can be loaded and saved elsewhere using the Jump Manager software, but you only have until June 28th to back them up.
There are two main ways to load your Jump VR stitches:
In the jump manager
- Open the cloud application Jump Manager.
- Go to the Jump Assembler tab.
- Click on the line you want to download, then click Download.
- Set the download location and then click “Submit” to start the download.
Wait to close the Navigation Manager until the files are successfully saved to your device, as closing the app will pause all active downloads. Downloading stitches may take some time due to their large file size, but you can monitor the download progress in the Actions tab.
Download from Google Cloud
You can also download jump stitches via Google Cloud. To do this, you need to create a new line in the Assembler tab. Once the process is complete, you will receive an email notifying that the project is ready. It will also include a hyperlink that you can use to download stitches directly.
