Let the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Wake up Your Child
If you have trouble motivating your child to get out of bed in the morning, you might consider taking the help of some animated characters. Google Assistant character alarms use voice acting and music from popular animation franchises such as Nickelodeon’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , Lego, and Hatchimals . It may be difficult for an adult for you to listen to these options, but it is much more enjoyable than screaming when the children wake up.
Symbolic alarms have been available on smart speakers and other Google Assistant-enabled devices since late 2018, but Google has just released an updated version of this feature for smart home display devices like the Google Home Hub. When enabled on smart displays, the alarm is accompanied by character portraits and other customizable UI elements depending on the character or franchise.
Here are all the character alarms currently available in Google Assistant:
- Hatchimals: Alarms, based on the Adventures in Hatchtopia animated series, with several characters who tell jokes and trivia, and interactive puzzles.
- Lego City : This alarm features news anchor Jake Earley reading the news based on Lego and the Lego City animated series.
- Lego Life : Includes music, Lego trivia and Lego assembly project ideas.
- Lego Friends : Contains fully voiced stories from the Lego Friends series.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Characters: These customizable alarms focus on a specific TMNT team member as well as mini-storylines that span the entire cast of the show. Each alarm clock has slightly different methods of encouraging waking up depending on the character of the character.

How to turn on symbolic alarms with Google Assistant
Although symbolic signals are available on a wide range of smart speakers and displays supported by Google Assistant, they are currently only available in the US and Canada. If you are in these regions and your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, you can turn on the symbolic alarm by using the following voice commands:
- “Ok Google, set an alarm for the characters.”
- “Ok Google, set an alarm for [character name]”
You can also additionally specify the date / time of the alarm and the frequency of its repetition. To turn off the alarm, you need to use the voice commands “Ok Google stop” or “Hey Google stop”, although smart displays will also allow you to control them using the device’s touchscreen.
