Make Google Remember Your Parking Spot

If you’ve ever wandered around a garage with your keys in the air, repeatedly pressing the lock / unlock button, aren’t sure if you’re even on the right floor, it’s time to start saving your parking spot.

You might not have realized that you can save your parking spot on iOS or Android using the Google Maps app. This is not a new feature, but we can all benefit from it from time to time (you are definitely on the wrong floor).

How to save money on iOS

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Tap the blue dot that shows your location.
  3. Click Set As Parking Location.

Your parking spot is now set until you delete it by clicking “Clear” or when you enter a new location.

To find a parking spot , tap Saved Parking> Show On Map at the bottom of the screen. If you want to display a parking spot after searching for another location in Maps, you first need to clear the search results by clicking the “X” in the search bar. Then you can click “Saved Parking” at the bottom.

You can also set up notifications for parking information, such as where you parked and for how long, by tapping the menu in the upper left corner of the screen. Go to Settings, then Notifications, and then select Saved parking spots to turn it on or off.

Or, if you want to go all-in, you can enable Google to “ flag your physical activity, ” and Maps will automatically remember where you parked.

How to save money on Android

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Tap the blue dot that shows your location.
  3. Click “Save Parking”.

On Android, you can also move your parking spot by tapping the search bar, then Parking Location, then Change Location (or delete it by tapping X). And you can add notes like which floor you’re parked on or when your meter runs out by clicking on the search bar, then “Parking location” and then “More.”

To find your place , tap the search bar, then “Parking place”, and then tap “Route” in the lower right corner.

The Verge notes that for Android users in particular, notifications can be a little extreme:

Please note that in the case of Android, you will automatically receive a permanent parking notification. You can swipe a notification like any other Android notification to dismiss it. If you don’t want to receive these notifications at all, you can turn them off completely:

  • Go to the map settings (from the three-line menu icon in the upper left corner)
  • Tap Notifications and then People & Places.
  • Find the entry “Saved Parking” and disable it.

If you are an Apple Maps user, you can also save your parking spot there .
