Meet Our New Personal Finance Writer
Hello everyone. I am probably the most regular Lifehacker reader without a Kinja account. But the series ends! Now!
I’m your new two cents personal finance writer. I was previously a Senior Writer at The Penny Hoarder, where my work included a weekly financial advice column that was featured in the Tampa Bay Times. I also regularly found myself absolutely fascinated by the psychology of money, the ongoing battle for dominance in e-commerce, and whatever tricks Domino came up with to get me to spend more (which worked every time).
When I’m not at my desk, I host a podcast about fashion, retail, and culture. Actually, I do it at a table, but this is a table in my closet, because if you’ve heard that podcasting is glamorous and profitable, you have been lied to.
When I leave the apartment, I spend a lot of time on the beach. I also occasionally play in the shuffleboard league in whatever place you may have read about . Look, I’ve been in Florida for almost three years. I bend over.
When it comes to money, my philosophy is that improving your financial situation is a lifelong endeavor. I would tell you about all the debts that I was able to get out of, but then I would also have to tell you about the debts that remain, or those that have arisen very recently.
The target is moving. You are making mistakes. You learn a lesson or two and try again. So do I.
So I’m not here to make you feel bad about the mistakes you made trying to make more money, or save more money, or finally create the perfect budget once and for all. I’m here to help you figure out bite size tricks to make managing your money easier, as well as discussing some of the larger issues that affect our finances.
Tell me something
While I’m getting used to it, I want to learn two things from you:
1. What’s the best thing you’ve done for your money in 2019?
2. What financial question or puzzle would you like to answer here for two cents?
Leave your thoughts in the comments – I look forward to meeting all of you in the Kinjuniverse *. My mailbox is open: [email protected]. You can also find me online at @lisatella.
* Don’t argue with me about Domino’s Pizza.
