What’s in Store for and Out of Netflix in the Week of May 6, 2019
According to it, one could adjust its clock as soon as Netflix has made gold the success his film “Orange – the new black”, someone had the bright idea to make a reality show about a women’s prison. Jailbirds (Friday) is like what would happen if the geniuses with this bright idea were the creators of Jersey Shore, meaning it’s like an exploitative mess that puts people at worst for your entertainment. Except that instead of being set at a summer vacation home, the Jailbirds are housed in the Sacramento Country Jail. Even I, with my real crime fetish and reality TV addiction, is going to miss it.
The first season of Pose also arrives on Friday, but I’ll go back to Wine Country, which looks like Sideways meets the bridesmaids. Is any midlife crisis movie set in the wine country of California meant to be compared to Side by side ? Does the comedy of an ensemble featuring former SNL stars compare to Bridesmaids ? What’s the difference? We’ve got Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer in this NO (Netflix Original), which means it’s either awful or “better than it should be.”
What do you think? Will it be NO “yes”?
