Do a Heavy Workout Before Boarding the Plane
On a busy day of travel, often the last thing I want to do is add another preparatory task. But in an interview, the Allbirds founder said his best travel advice is to exercise before flying. And his logic is correct:
There is something about sitting for so long, which I think is not always the most pleasant feeling, but if you train in advance or do something stressful, you somehow feel better and you feel like you are getting better, not nervous.
This tip won’t work for a 5am flight (unless you’re a serious early riser), but otherwise I like it. Practice ahead and walk into the airport in the shower, relaxed and ready to mess around for a few hours because, hey, you deserve it.
The trick is that the workout should be challenging enough that you deserve some time to relax afterwards. Stretching or light yoga is better than nothing, but it doesn’t really fit the bill. Luckily, we have a variety of options for getting a good workout, even when you’re far from home. Make a workout with dumbbells in the hotel’s gym , take a farewell run through the city, you’re going to leave, or do any of a variety of training with own weight or portable equipment , which just takes place on a yoga mat in your hotel room. If planning is too complicated, you can walk through the entire airport to show off . Then sit down and enjoy your rest.
