Take This Quiz to Learn How to Give Travel Advice

Many of us know how to tip when we are in a restaurant, cafe or hairdresser. When do we travel? Who else gets tips besides taxi drivers and minibuses? Are we inadvertently neglecting any of the service personnel who make our trip smooth and comfortable?

The Washington Post has a quiz to help you determine if you are a seasoned garbage collector or a mean. Here’s an example question:

You take the free shuttle bus from the rental car park to your terminal and the driver unloads your bag from the bus to the curb. Do you tip?

I was wrong if you were wondering, but I answered the questions about tips to hotel staff correctly!

The thing about tip is that many of us rely on external reminders to know when and how much to tip: we drop the change in the tipped jar, fill out the line at the bottom of the receipt, or choose one of the options that appears in the app. When you travel, many of these reminders disappear; Your free shuttle does not have a touchscreen that prompts you to tip the driver. (At least for now.)

Thus, quizzes like this can help you decide when is appropriate to tip the next time you travel, and how much extra money you need to bring along.
