Book Half the Amtrak Sept. Starting Today
If you are planning a train trip in September, you will need to book your tickets now. Starting today (August 16) and ending tomorrow, select routes on Amtrak have a 50 percent discount for travel nationwide between September 1-30, 2019, with no blackout dates.
This is especially good news if you are looking for a late summer vacation in the early part of the month, or if you want to take advantage of the changing autumn leaves as October approaches.
There is of course the fine print. The offer is valid only for seats on the bus, as well as for business class seats on Acela trains, upgrades are not allowed. You also cannot combine it with other discounted offers and tickets are non-refundable. However, you can exchange tickets during their validity period with a 25% cancellation fee.

Chicago – Sept. Louis for $ 16
Seattle – Portland for $ 18.
Washington DC – Philadelphia for $ 29.
San Francisco – Los Angeles for $ 33.
Chicago – Kansas City, Missouri for $ 35.

New York – Boston for $ 42.
San Francisco – Portland, OR $ 46
Chicago – Washington DC for $ 51.
Richmond – New York for $ 52.
Washington DC – Charleston, South Carolina for $ 55.
Los Angeles – Portland, OR $ 61
