Create Rainy Day Activity Bags for Your Kids
I’m in favor of letting kids get bored (that’s good for them) and being in charge of their own entertainment (they have tons of toys), but it’s nice to give them a little inspiration from time to time. Especially when they are stuck inside for the last few days due to bad weather and are practically climbing walls (and soon you will too).
One dad shared a fresh idea on Twitter that requires very little effort on your part, encourages their creativity and, most importantly, keeps them busy for a while.
His letter reads:
Dear children,
I have a very important task for you. As you can see, I have numbered 3 bags: 1, 2 and 3.
- Take a piece of paper from the first bag for your assignment.
- Take a piece of paper from the second bag on the subject of your assignment.
- Take a piece of paper from the third bag about the location of your assignment.
No redrawing. Save the first paper you receive! You can help each other if you like, but I hope to see results when I get home. Good luck and may the odds always be in your favor.
I love my dad
He filled the first bag with a variety of activities: draw a picture, write a story, photograph, make a film, create a dance.
He filled the second bag with an object of activity: about your parents, about Santa Claus, about an astronaut, a clown, a ghost.
He filled the third bag with action: riding a dinosaur, fighting a bear, getting married, a pillow fight, walking on the moon.
Depending on what they pulled out, he could return home for an interpretive dance of Santa Claus fighting a bear, or a story about a neighbor’s clown taking a trip to the moon.
You can personalize ideas with the names of their friends or family members or seasonal items (for example, zombies, giant spiders, and skeletons can appear in activity bags during Halloween).
Or, if they feel more creative, they can come up with their own ideas to add to the packages.
